Yesterday I went with my daughter Haylee to the dentist. My sweet girl had to get a tooth pulled that wasn't coming down right because the baby tooth didn't come out. Oh, I hate when our kids have to go through hard things though I know they have to. She was so brave and sweet...still smiled even though afterwards she said she had felt faint. Its always a joy to spend time alone with our children...even going to the dentist.
When we arrived home I had the joy of my youngest, Aidan, running happily to give me hug, followed by 3 year-old Lily, who we adopted this past summer, smiling and excitedly giving me a big hug too around my leg! She loves attention and smiles alot now, but this was the first time she initiated a big "Mommy's home" hug. An unexpected joy. Sometimes it can feel like she sees me just like the rest of the family especially since our big kids take care of the younger ones often, so it was neat to see that she "gets it" that she has a Mommy. I can still remember the first time Sean also did this...okay so they were copying what their siblings did, thats okay...they have to learn what a family is, and they are learning. Praise God :)
Other joys I'd like to share....
The Malone family's 10 day wait (after court) is over so today their son Ethan is officially theirs...no one can contest it anymore in otherwords, so now they can start working on bringing him HOME!! You can learn about their amazing family at www.themalonefamily.us
Another RR family we've posted about, and are trying to raise funds for, just found out that their dossier was submitted officially TODAY, so they anticipate traveling in 4 weeks! Masha will soon get to meet her forever family...we're so excited for them.
If you would like to help their family there is another family doing a fundraiser chip-in for an IPOD...I think it ends today..and every dollar that is raised will be matched. The Cornish family's blog is www.cornishadoptionjourney.blogspot.com Its amazing how much they have raised and are trying to reach $8,000 to help this precious family. They went to adopt from the same orphanage Sean was in a few months before we got him 2 years ago...and are blessed to know them. You can also donate on our daughters fundraiser on the sidebar.

It is such a blessing to see God moving in hearts ...giving more and more people a love for those who are helpless and loved by Him. Sometimes it can be overwhelming to see all that need help and homes, so we need to rejoice in these things and thank God!

Help this little boy Jonah
2 posts in 1 day...I guess I go in spurts. If you read this post, there is another new one just before it of our big move.
This little boy named Jonah on Reeces Rainbow is so precious...
we're praying that a family will go get him.
He reminds me a little bit of our Sean in this picture.

Jonah has APERT syndrome. His fingers are fused and he has mild cranio-facial issues. He is considered very high functioning, intelligent, physically able, and the director really wants a family for him.

this means that he could be transferred to an institution- a mental institution where the unwanted go and merely exist. Where there is noone to love them, where they have no toys or school, and little hope of adoption.

Moving in
We've been moving into our new home this past weekend! Yeah!
We had been living temporarily in the basement apartment of a christian family who opened their home up to us, who they learned of through a mutual friend of ours that we met in seminary. God is so good. He knew what financial condition we would be in after adopting 2 children overseas and having to relocate across the country...the moving expenses costing much more than anticipated, and the adoption having extra unanticipated costs from delays overseas. He so graciously provided a place for us to stay that would help us to build back up, give our children joy in new good friends to comfort them as they had to say goodbye to their friends and home and dog in SD. We are so thankful for being able to stay there and hope that we can bless others through hospitality as well....what a special ministry --to open your home to help others in a time of need.
It is a big relief to finally be moved into a (Lord willing) more permanent home where we can actually unpack our boxes and spread out a little more. The little ones have had fun running around the new house and the big kids love exploring outside. We also just adopted 2 Australian shepherd puppies, "Jewel" and "Teddy" that all the kids are thoroughly enjoying....though seem to be a distraction from unpacking...oh well, to see the joy in their faces is worth a little distraction. We are thankful to the Lord also to have provided us a very kind family next door to us and a home which is only 2 hours from my parents, sister and grandfather (much closer than a 4 day drive).

LOVE
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude,it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered,it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always hopes, always trusts, always perseveres. Love never fails..." 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
My command is this, 'Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends..." John 15:12-13
Today I was reminded just how un-loving I truly am. I'd like to think I am a loving person, and I think I once thought I was ...until I came to know God, who alone is LOVE which he demonstrated through Jesus Christ willingly dying on the cross for our sins...that we might be forgiven and granted eternal life. That is LOVE.
My love can often be self-centered...in that it benefits me. Or it can be conditional... if I am feeling well or someone is acting right or in a way that pleases me. When they are not, then it is hard to love.
I think that God uses our relationships in our marriages and with our children to further reveal our inability to love ...and our need to rely on Him. I fail to love when I forget to rely on HIm and when I lose His perspective and forget His commands. Its so easy to do as it comes naturally. Yet there is hope in Christ, who not only showed us the way but promises to give us grace.
"If a man abides in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit. Apart from Me you can do nothing." John 15:5 With Christ, we can lay our lives down for our families...for our husbands by lovingly seeking to help them in small and big ways in their priorities, and for our children as we make countless sacrifices to care for and train them.
Sometimes I think that I am such a slow learner that God keeps giving me more to stretch me and teach me how to love :) yet I know it is all for good
May each of us grow in His love this year.

A birthday gift for a girl who doesn't even know ....
Her name is Masha and she turned 4 today, but she doesn't know its her birthday. She live in an orphanage in Eastern Europe in a groupa with 20 or so other children her age, one groupa among many. They share the same clothes and have no toys or personal belongings to speak of. Caregivers come and go to feed, clothe and watch them, but there is noone to love her, cherish her, or even know that today she was born.
But....another thing she doesn't know is that there is a God who loves her...and there is a family who loves her though they've never met her.
They have worked hard to get physicals, a homestudy, fingerprints, endless paperwork and notarizing of documents, and now they await an appointment date to adopt Masha. God has made the process go very quickly to rescue this precious little girl. You see, where she lives, turning 4 is not only not recognized, it is not something to look forward to. It is
the age that special needs orphans are transferred ...to an institution....
where she will no longer be protected at the baby house....
where the conditions may be poor and often are unspeakable,
there is no therapy, education, play, hope or love, and
where often even healthy special needs kids do not survive long...
Her family needs help to be able to rescue her from this fate. $20,000. It is daunting in our eyes but nothing to God. He can use each of us and He can multiply every $5 or $10 we give. Children with a mission...
...to pray for, help and love orphans!
I'm not sure how it happened but my husband's "I think we should adopt one day" has not only turned reality (we've adopted now 3 orphans, special needs orphans) but it has multiplied into all of our children having hearts for orphans.
My just-turned 4 year-old often says, "I love orphans Mommy". Sometimes she tells her sister that she adopted her baby doll from the orphanage. She wants to go with us to adopt some more orphans (she had to stay home the last 2 times). My 6 year-old would love so much to go play with all those orphans and she would quickly become best friends with them all.
My 8 year-old son would love to go back and adopt a little girl we saw our last 2 trips...she is a quote "regular" orphan whose mother pays for her to be there and rarely visits but she doesn't give permission for her to be adopted...breaks our hearts, she is so precious.
My 13 and 11 year-old girls have blogs going to raise awareness about orphans and raise money for them. If you have time or interest, visit their blogs and share them with people you know. We can learn from them...I know I sure do. There is nothing so powerful like a child's heart that is in tune with the heart of our Heavenly Father, who is the Father to the fatherless. Our children just raised about $230 for a little boy (Ethan) who has just met his forever family for the first time today! See the previous post for a link to their blog. They are excited. They sold bracelets, collected change and memorized scripture too.
Now they want to raise money to help a little girl named Masha...

Their dossier paperwork is being submitted very soon and they need $20,000 to complete the adoption. Sounds like alot...but God can use the efforts of our children to help Masha...he can multply each and every small donation to make her miracle happen.

Ethan met his family today
Ethan met his family today. So exciting..please pray for them...he is 6 years old and only 14 lbs! They need to get him home quickly so that he can have the surgery he needs. Please pray that their 10 day wait will be waived!
