Doctor's appointments

WE had to delay some evaluations for Lily and Joshua with all that was going on in our lives and due to insurance issues, so we are getting ready to have several appointments...
today Lily has an opthalmology evaluation. WE dont know how her vision is except that she can focus on people's faces and have a "conversation" and she likes some kid videos so she must see pretty well, though from a distance she tunes out so she may be nearsighted.

(By the way, for anyone else who has a child with DS and is really into people (over toys)...we recently were given some Blues Clues videos which she LOVES...because the whole time almost Steve gets up close and talk to you asking you things...she loves that and talks back ("ba bab ba bab ba!")...and SEan our other one with DS loves all the music. We don't like to use videos much but occasionally we need to occupy them so we can get things cleaned up so its safe for them to be roaming about)
THe big issue for her is she has a almost constant nystagmus or fluttering of her eyes back and forth...I'm hoping there is something they can do to help it.

She also will be going to an EAr Nose and Throat doctor soon to see if there is something related to her adnoids/tonsils interferring with her sleep as her hemoglobin levels were eleveated (which we were told could indicate periods of sleep apnea causing her body to compensate) and we opted to see the ENT before putting her through a sleep study. Lily would fight with all her might having things attached to her-- she can be very persistant (aka stubborn) and it would be very challenging, so we will try this first.

Joshua has an EEG and MRI coming up also...we're praying that it will be helpful in learning more about his condition of his brain, and his seizure activity and what his needs are. He was put on a seizure med back in the early fall when he suddently began having seizures (3 or 4 one day). When we first put him on it, it was amazing because the next day he was VERY calm and alert...like a different child. So we wonder if maybe he slept so much better because he didnt have any seizure activity and from the medicine. But then after a few days, he was more like he usually is... more varying between happy/over excited/crying/and calm. In general though I was noticing that he had been getting alot more alert to people and things around him (so much since the orphanage when we didn't know if he saw us...now he looks right at you and smiles and laughs when you call his name) and he was calm and happy when we went to feed him. When we first got him he would cry hysterically as soon as we put him in the chair to eat. It varies some though, like the last few days he is fussy again with eating...and I wonder if he had a seizure the other night as he threw up and he was very tired in the day. So all that to say, I'm looking forward to his evaluation and hoping it will be very helpful. He will have to be put to sleep for the MRI so please keep him in your prayers.
