Update from last night...
Joshua update:
Today has been a pretty good day for the little guy- although he is fighting withdrawel symptoms. He has been in a pleasant mood most of the day. Part of the problem is his digestion has been up and down quite a bit, and because of that his absorption of the meds he is on fluctuates greatly, so the little guy is hard to regulate a good level of pain management and sedation so he i...s not so agitated.
All 4 chest tubes remain in place, but are now just leaking fluid, so the MD wonders whether they are leaking fluid just because of tissue irritation from the tubes themselves. I don't believe they are going to remove them though prior to the G-tube placement on Thursday to help insure that he does not develop a further pneumothorax.
I got to spend the weekend with the family- actually slept at home 2 whole nights! What a blessing to be in my own bed, next to my beautiful wife. It is so quiet now at home at night compared to what I am used to- who would have thought a man with 9 kids would say that!?
We also got to go to church, and our church family had prepared individual Valentine's Day bags for us each, which was a thoughtful gift. Thanks to Donna Bruton for organizing that!
Please continue to pray for the following:
1) Joshua to stay on the same healing course.
2) Joshua to do well with the surgery- the total procedure will take approximately 4 hours because they have to do something to his stomach to help eliminate reflux.
3) Everything will go smoothly while I am on a 3 day business trip, and that Traci will have some support at home so she can be here some.
4) Our cousin Sarah Matson has gotten a local Chick Fil-A to do a fund raiser for Joshua to assist with any needs we might have- praying it is very successful! (thanks Sarah for all your support- you are awesome!)
