An unexpected delay

from Thursday, April 16th

Today we left for Maryland to my parents house. We flew out at 11:45 am. I haven’t flown in over 6 years (since Jonah was a baby) and it has really changed. Getting through security was quite an experience with 5 children and lots of bags….I think 5 of them they had to search through. My 7 year-old son had put some interesting things in his bag that they questioned…like the device from a musical card he had ripped out of the card (that didn’t go over very well) and my husband had to be searched too. We definitely were motivated to lighten our load when we head to the Ukraine.
Our flight to Denver went well, aside from not being able to sit all together but it worked out okay. However, as we were rushing to the next flight (as they were behind schedule) somehow our 4 year-old tripped in front of me, I tripped over her and fell, with our 2 year-old in the ergo carrier. As soon as I was helped up, she threw up 3 times all over her and me, and looked like she might fall asleep. We were concerned she might have a head injury so we called a paramedic and she looked at Elsie and Annabelle. She said she could call an ambulance but thought she seemed to be acting pretty normal and we could just keep an eye on her (as that is what they'd do at the ER). We'd missed our flight, so we stayed at a hotel and got dinner. By an hour later, they were both their energetic, happy selves and showed no other symptoms from then on...praise God! He was surely looking after our little ones. We were given a free meal at the airport and were so thankful to go to bed that night in a comfortable bed.
