Kiev at last!

We had a nice train ride and we made it to Kiev and got all our paperwork done except the visa--we had to pick it up the next day. We saw Mr. Anatoly again and got our picture taken with Miss. Irina and Mr. Anatoly. It turned out nice! :) ..............
We went to the mission house and rested and played outside. Then we went to the store and bought some groceries. We went back, made dinner, ate dinner and watched a movie and even had ice cream with chocolate sauce :) We had a fun time. Miss. Jamie was nice and took care of us. On Wensday, we got the visa, said goodbye to Miss. Irina--she has been very helpful to me while my mommy is across the ocean! Then, we went sight seeing and ate at a cafe where we first tasted ukrainian food. We went back to the mission house and are enjoying the nice people here and talking right now.

You are learning so much on this trip--don't forget to journal some before you get home :)

After that, it is all a big blur :)
4/2/09 Got our appt. date of April 21st
3/23/09 Dossier submitted and accepted!
3/16/09 scheduled for submission--but docs not there in time
3/12/09 Had to express mail updated doctor/sw licenses to country
2/27/09 Dossier hand delivered by Hollis family to facilitator
2/21/09 Apostilled documents at Sec. of State
2/14/09 Got pur I-171h form (US govt approval) YEAH!
2/13/09 Heard that our adoption petitition was approved!! and will receive in a few days
2/8/09 Had to get residence form redone and notarized
2/4/09 Got our taxes completed & notarized
1/4/09 Found out that our homestudy never made it to the USCIS; resent it!
12/29/08 Had to have our medical forms redone and renotarized
12/20 Received no interest loan from Lifesong for orphans!
11/17/08 Mailed copies of documents to agency
11/14 /08 Local fundraiser (family festival)
11/08 Completed most of our documents and Notarized our documents
11/9/08 Federal ingerprinting done
10/28/08 Homestudy completed
10/08 Began sending out applications for grants/loans
10/08 I600A orphan petition sent to USCIS
10/08 Homestudy started (including medical exams, local fingerprinting, child abuse backgound checks, homevisits)
10/08 Applied for passports
9/30/08 Started our online education through agency
9/30-08 Submitted application to our agency
9/27/08 We committed to adopt "Sean" at Reeces Rainbow

We wanted to have this blog to share what God has been doing in our lives, leading us to adopt a child with special needs. God has used many other families to challenge and encourage us, as He opened our hearts to the need and the blessing of adoption. Our hope is that this blog will give Him the glory for all of it, as well as be a way to keep friends and family up to date on our progress and provide encouragement to other families considering or pursuing an adoption.
