Out and about

Trying to get a post written quick before they turn the electricity off--there are some workers doing work in this apartment complex.

Yesterday we went to the big grocery story here--kind of like Walmart, but there is also a restaurant here so we ate there too. We played it safe with borscht, greek salad, chickena and potatoes :) We did try a pancake burrito type food too that had a sweet cheese and bean in it, served with sour cream which was okay. We bought some more supplies of food that we were out of, this time on our own as Irina is not here anymore. She returns the day before court. WE also had a different driver (than our usual 2) because Igor was sick. Oh yea, we had to make a return of a sundress we'd bought for Lusa (too big) and that was quite an ordeal--had to go to different parts of the store and took a while, so we decided to not buy anything we may need to return again :)

Yesterday morning we tried feeding Taras but he was not wanting it and we think they were saying he had aten not long before. That night at our visit we tried again and he gobbled it down. He is fed by bottle--a thin soup and a milk type bottle too. We are weary of how he is fed here (they usually keep in laying in stroller and it dribbles all over) but we haven't seen him struggle or choke at least. We figure we will keep it the same until we get him home and can get him evaluated.

This afternoon we fed Lusa too. THey spoon feed her everything-- the soup as well as the tea. She sits there very compliantly for the caregivers, but she did not for us! She started spitting it out and pulling away. THankfully one of the ladies gave her a talking too Ukrainian style and encouraged her to eat "Kooshet! Kooshet!" So after that she did a little better --we finished the meal (soup, then a rice and meat dish) but she did not want her tea for us or her. She can be very stubborn but I think once she realizes that we are her caregivers, she will learn...and when we're home, be able to do much of it on her own when she has the chance.

After eating at the potato house, we headed to the outdoor market again--this time we had the driver drop us off and we navigated around ourselves...got lost a few times but we got by! After a little shopping we headed back home for a rest.
